Want to Contribute to AgendaVT.com?
While we’re open to pitches, we prefer longform, research-based articles revealing the unexpected side of running a business and making a living in Vermont.
We’re especially interested in stories that present an interesting variation within a current trend. An example might be a story about young people leaving Vermont, except in Brattleboro where their numbers are growing. Why? And what does it mean? What is driving the variation?
We’re also looking for:
- Data-driven investigation
- Personal business narratives
- Thoughtful critiques and rigorous analyses catch our attention. We’re more interested in writers who’ve done research and reporting vs personal observations
- Ambitious reporting on important issues facing businesses in Vermont
- Clear and engaging explanations of running a business in the state.
- Personal essays with a unique angle, underrepresented perspective, or ties to current trends/research
- The upside of running a business in difficult and uncertain times
We’re also seeking:
- Photo essays
We only accept original material; we cannot publish anything that has appeared elsewhere, even if it’s on your personal blog. We do not accept simultaneous submissions.
Call for Proposal:
Agenda VT seeks proposals for a three-part data-driven series that tells a compelling, even surprising story related to the Vermont economy, Vermont entrepreneurship, and/or doing business in Vermont. These will be carefully crafted longform research-backed pieces that people will love to click, read, and share.
Each article has a 1500 word minimum and must use data and research to drive the story. This can include census data, state records, city, state, and federal economic data, and other sources.
We will create charts and illustrations to accompany your journalism.
Own a Business?
We are very interested in publishing articles about running a business in Vermont from the owner’s perspective. We want to hear your story and what is happening in your industry. Our readers will appreciate your unique insights, tips, and lessons learned.
How to Pitch
Send us your initial pitches to firstname.lastname@example.org. You will hear back from us within five business days.
We pay for all stories. The amount mostly depends on the type/length of story.
